• Sending Hope

Times are tough. Everyday stress is high. Suffering abounds. How can we survive the daily grind, even thrive and recognize the good within and around us in the midst of hardships?

Here is a contemplation for you (in the style of loving-kindness or metta meditation) meant to send a message that it can be done and you can do it.

Metta meditation is not about having false optimism. Rather, it is intended to promote compassion, which can aid in many ways, including potentially opening our minds and hearts, helping us accept what is and consider what we can positively change, reducing the power of fear, repairing relationships and promoting well-being.

Metta meditation is a tool that many people use to cultivate goodwill towards themselves and others. Note that you can easily replace the “I” in this contemplation with “You.” You can tailor it to speak to your own or someone else’s situation. You can also easily craft your own meditations.

    Today’s Hope

    Kristin Littel

May I tap into the sacred wisdom that is in my heart and mind and all around me

May I uncover the awesomeness found

in nature, in my fellow humans, in other creatures,

in the universe, and beyond, and the lessons they offer

May I revel in what I don’t know yet and embrace life’s mysteries

    May I

Be compassionate to myself and others

Be courageous in the face of injustice

    Overcome hardships and find peace

    With sacred guidance, may I

    Practice hope

    Practice acceptance of what is

Practice bringing forth my best self into this world

May I be one of many radiating love and lightness in the darkness
